A few days ago when we left for our mini-vacation in New Brunswick, there were just a few lonely daffodils and a tulip or two, poking their heads up in our front garden. But after only four days, on our return, there were a plethora of blooms and a riot of colour. It occurred to us that this was an interesting lesson about change. First, we have to lay the foundation for change – like when we planted some of the bulbs and perennials last year. Secondly, not everything we planned for will happen exactly as we’d planned; squirrels have dug up some of our tulips and “replanted” them somewhere else in the garden. Most of all, though, what we learned is that if we have made a plan and got the ball rolling, things may take off in every direction, and that that may happen sooner than we anticipated.
Have you laid the foundation for an uptick in your business? If not, what one action can you take today, that will plant the seed of a new sale with your customers? Are you flexible and open to change? You need to be able to alter your process to allow yourself to enjoy whichever part of your effort blooms first. Lastly, you need to already have your plan for delivery in place – in detail – so that if it all comes together at once, you can still take a little time to enjoy it all.
Here’s to a busy and productive spring,
