As marketers, we’re in the MORE business. Whether that’s your brand, your team, your product, or your service, the objective is to make more, to sell more, to develop more, to convince more, or to create more. A key part of that is to have optimism and enthusiasm. (And in today’s economy, lots of it).
So what’s wrong with optimism? Only this: if we spend all of our time focusing on the positive, we lose sight of potential issues that can keep us from reaching our MORE. That’s why it’s important to look beneath the surface and see what’s lurking there. One tool we like to use for this sort of introspection is the Innovation Game™,
Speedboat. We use the Game to do three key things:
- To identify anchors that are keeping you, your brand, your product, or your service from fully achieving your objective.
- To determine which anchors are easiest to remove, as well as those whose removal will net the greatest benefit.
- To use what we’ve found as a springboard to a plan that will get you to shore (and to MORE) faster and better than you could have imagined.
